Sew Powerful Purse Program

We have partnered with Baby Lock and the charity organization, whose mission is to help combat extreme poverty through sewing and tailoring. US seamstresses and a sewing cooperative in Zambia join forces to empower girls in Zambia to stay in school all month, improve their academic performance and move on to secondary school.  The sewing cooperative in Zambia employs local moms, giving them dignity, training, and income.  They produce reusable feminine hygiene products for the girls, while the US seamstresses make cute purses for the girls to carry the feminine products to school. In addition, each girl receives a note of encouragement from the US maker.

Join us Nov. 2 to make purses to send to the girls in Zambia.  The cost is $10.  $5 of the class fee covers the kit cost for the purse, the other $5 cover the cost of the materials needed for the hygiene products made by the moms in Zambia.  If you cannot join us on Nov 2 but would like to help contact the shop for information.
