Sashiko Handwork Coasters

Sashiko Come learn the method of Sashiko with Gretta and make a trivet or set of coasters. 

 The Japanese word sashiko translates to English as little stabs, a reference made to the simple running stitch employed by repeating or interlocking traditional Japanese geometric patterns. Sashiko is an traditional Japanese embroidery style which dates back to the Edo period (1615 – 1868). It was mostly used by the working class farming and fishing families as to make stronger more practical workwear. A worn-out piece was stitched with layers of old cloth, producing a sturdy garment passed down through generations. 
Sashiko today is used in any number of products from clothing, bags, accessories like sunglasses, jewellery, and shoes to home linen, like cushions, rugs, blankets, bedspreads, and wall art.

Class Policies:

• We ask that Class materials be purchased at A Stitch in Time. This helps us cover class expenses. We do ask however that you check with us prior to purchasing any supplies to ensure the class has made. 

• Pre-registration with payment is required. You may register in person, by phone, or through our website class calendar. Be sure to register early to help us ensure sufficient enrollment is met.

• We will determine 7 days before the class date if enrollment is sufficient for the class to be held or if the class will be cancelled.

• Cancellations: 

• If we cancel a class due to insufficient enrollment, weather, etc., class fees will be refunded. 

• If you cancel your class reservation 7 or more prior to class date, any refund will be in the form of a store credit.  There could be exceptions to this rule for special events with an out-ot-town teacher.

• If you cancel your class reservation 7 or fewer days from class date, you are not eligible for a refund or store credit.  Any exceptions to this will be on a case-by-case basis as determined by the owner.

• Please cancel if you are sick.

• Please refrain from wearing fragrances to class.

• Come to class expecting a day of fun and relaxation!
