Tucker Tools - Tucker Trimmer Part 1

Tucker Trimmer Tool Techniques-Part 1

Versatility and Precision is the name of this game!

The Tucker Trimmer, by Studio 180 Designs, is a very versatile tool.  It was designed to help quilter’s quickly and easily trim down units that are made with triangles: half square triangle squares, quarter square triangle squares (hourglass units), and combinations of half square and quarter square triangle squares (combination units). It has multiple diagonals which allow you to align ruler guidelines with unit seam lines to quickly locate the exact center of pieced units. This makes trimming easy, precise, and perfect every time. No more figuring, or guessing, or struggling to find a center point.  I use it for much more than just trimming.  I consider it my “must have” tool every time I head to my cutting table.

In this two-part series I will be teaching the techniques of how to use the tool.  I will show you many ways you can use this tool, besides trimming and squaring up your blocks.  Below you will see which skills I will be teaching in Part 1 and 2.

Part 1 Class - Eight at Once, Shaded Four Patch, Shaded Nine Patch, and Triangle Pizazz.

Part 2 Class (Nov 6) - Traditional Log Cabin, Curved Log Cabin, Flock of birds, and Cyclone.

Tools you will need to buy: Tucker Trimmer III & Techniques sheets for each. The Tucker Trimmer III can be used for both Part 1 and Part 2 classes.  It will make up to 12 ½” block in ½” increments and you will need this size to do the Part 2 class.  That means you only need to buy one ruler.

If you already have the Tucker Trimmer I (makes up to a 6 ½” block in ½” increments), it can ONLY be used for the Part 1 class. These tools can be purchased at A Stitch in Time.

WOW, THAT IS A LOT!!!

Prior to class I will send out cutting instructions, fabric requirements (your stash), and a supply list of what to bring to class.
