Fit & Flatter

Come learn how easy it is to alter garments in your closet to make them fit better and flatter your figure! You will bring 2 simple tops from your wardrobe, both either woven or knit (your choice).  One should be a top that you consider flattering to your figure, and the other one similar, but too loose, and in need of alteration to make it fun to wear again. Wear another top to class that is quick to change out of so we can safety pin the ill-fitting top right on your body.  We will baste our changes by machine, check the fit again, and then finalize the alterations. You'll leave with 2 tops you love, not just one!

We will cover the topics of measurements, wearing and design ease, and body shapes. You will learn my simple method of altering tops to make them flattering in terms of finished garment circumference and length.   We will also draft a basic pattern shape (sloper) to help you alter tops in the future very quickly. I will demonstrate the technique of using a double needle to hem knits that looks just like a cover stitch.

This is the first in a series of classes on fitting garments.  Sewing for yourself can be fun again with some basic fitting knowledge!
