Featherweight 221 Maintenance & Service Clinic

Kirk Kline will walk you through disassembling and reassembling your featherweight, in order to clean and perform maintenance on the bobbin shaft assembly, upper tension assembly, and timing, as well as how to lubricate the inside and polish and care for the exterior.  This class is a must for featherweight owners! (For 221 machines only)

Workshop class members will learn:
* Featherweight Historical Overview
* Oiling & Lubricating
* Tension Adjustments
* Electrical Components
* Stitch Formation
* Cleaning & Restoration
* Troubleshooting
Basic oiling is important, but proper care and servicing of the Featherweight requires much more.  I will teach participants how to give their machines the standard service – regularly!

Machine mechanical knowledge is not a prerequisite, so you needn’t worry about having maintenance experience.  We will provide all tools and supplies needed for the class, but will have some available for purchase if you desire to have a set for yourself.  I will have some handouts for home use as well.  The following is a short list of items you will need to bring to class.

 1)  One Singer Featherweight in operational condition (if your machine has any mechanical issues (such as the wheel won't turn) please contact me right away, to troubleshoot it over the phone before clinic).
2)  A fat quarter or scrap of fabric for the purpose of test stitching.
3) Two contrasting spools of cotton thread
4) A Featherweight bobbin & bobbin case
5) Small pair of scissors
6) Notebook and pen
