Lynn and Kirk Kline

Lynn’s Story
Lynn first sat at a sewing machine when she was just eight years old, proudly stitching her very first apron. From that moment, the craft had her heart—though she quickly realized that making clothes wasn’t her passion. Everything changed in 1998 when she discovered quilting. The creativity, precision, and beauty of quilting rekindled her love of sewing, and she hasn’t looked back since.

Along the way, Lynn even made her own prom dresses, a true testament to her skills and dedication. Today, she’s an avid crafter who also tends to her chickens, enjoys gardening, and loves camping. She has called Franklin home for the past 10 years. Before that, she worked as a Certified Public Accountant—a chapter of her life she’s more than happy to leave behind!

What excites her most about quilting is the combination of artistry and problem-solving. She loves designing quilts, playing with color palettes, and working through the math that brings each pattern to life.

Kirk’s Story
Kirk began his career at the Durham Herald newspaper, first as a pressman and later in maintenance—a shift that launched a decades-long journey working with industrial machines. He’s always loved the challenge of problem-solving, figuring out why something isn’t working, and finding ways to make it better.

At the quilt shop, Kirk is a jack-of-all-trades. He runs the long-arm quilting machines, helps on the floor with fabric and sales, teaches a Featherweight maintenance class, and is always ready to fix a machine. He enjoys guiding customers toward the right machine and loves quilting t-shirt quilts, which he sees as personal stories stitched into fabric.

A people person at heart, Kirk thrives on daily interactions with customers and staff. Outside of work, he’s a lifelong Duke football fan, a former high school and semi-pro player, and makes regular trips for games and tailgating. He also enjoys building models, hunting, fishing, and smoking meats year-round for family and friends.
